A dream of
Art Nouveau in Vienna.
With her renovation of a 1912 Art Nouveau villa, Marietta Kiesling (@vonmuto.living) created a unique and expressive retreat in Vienna. Light, natural colors and materials lend a spaciousness to the house's architecture and harmonize with the soul of the house, which Marietta sensed from the very first moment.
Hi Marietta, it’s lovely to visit you! Would you like to briefly introduce yourself?
Welcome to beautiful Vienna. My name is Marietta and I work in real estate renovation, especially with interiors. When I entered this house, it was love at first sight.
Flooded with light and restrained – these are two attributes of the house. How did you come to the decision to decorate everything in light tones?
From the first time I came here, I knew everything had to be white. I like it bright, and there should be a prevailing natural color scheme. It simply came from the feeling that the house's architecture harmonizes better with the bright colors.
We're on the bel étage right now – what makes it stand out for you?
The bel étage used to be the representative part of the apartment or house in old buildings, where guests were received. It often takes the form of a spacious hall, a beautiful staircase and, in this case, an imposing cross vault framing everything. Now we live in it and have made it a home. We have turned what used to serve only representative purposes into a cozy place to feel good, sit together, and enjoy.
The house definitely has a soul. A very, very good one. I think there is such a nice vibe here.

"I came here, entered the house - and it was love".
Marietta was particularly concerned with creating warmth in the bathroom, because the room is relatively large. A sophisticated mix of materials consisting of puristic light elements and a subtle gold tone for the taps creates the desired spa-like atmosphere for her. The real star – the unique architecture of the bathroom – is highlighted by the choice of bathroom items and minimalist aesthetics.
