French flair
in the Berlin neighborhood
At home with Jessie Weiß, founder of journelles
Entrepreneur Jessie Weiß doesn't need an interior designer for her old apartment in Berlin’s Mitte neighborhood:
She has made a charming, stylish home in the heart of the capital with her husband and two young sons. Jessie is well known in the fashion & interior design scene – after all, she’s been blogging for years with great success on Journelles, the blogazine she founded.
Originally from the Ruhr area, the Berliner-by-choice actually comes from classic fashion journalism, but over time she has also discovered her passion for interior design. “I became a bit of a nerd in that area, too, and then I launched a new section on Journelles relatively quickly,” Jessie reveals in our interview. She tells us how much heart and soul went into designing the apartment in the Berlin neighborhood. After nine months of core renovation, a harmonious living concept, complete with loving details, has been put into place. Soft colors, Viennese wicker, and playful decorative elements create a modern home.
MIX & MATCH.
“My decorating style is definitely minimalist and understated with warm elements. I like a dab of color here and there. I love the French elements that we also have in our crown moldings on the walls. And then there is the Scandinavian touch added by the furniture choice. I don't think you can pin down the decorating style to one style in particular, and its constantly changing for me, too.”
